PS5 Elder Scrolls 6: Could gamers really miss out on Bethesda's next game?

Microsoft's recent mega-purchase of Bethesda has seen Doom Eternal fly onto Game Pass, while speculation has grown about future titles skipping the PS5 entirely.

The biggest upcoming Bethesda game is Elder Scrolls 6, and while it is still a ways away, speculation is rife that it will not be on PlayStation.

A previous statement by Phil Spencer, Xbox's head honcho, says the massive outlay for Bethesda doesn't mean Microsoft have to release titles across every platform.

"I don’t have to go ship those games on any other platform other than the platforms that we support in order to kind of make the deal work for us. Whatever that means." said Spencer in an interview with Stephen Totilo of Kotaku recently.

In a new interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Todd Howard settled some nerves, but only for a moment.

Fans are having a tough time thinking that the next amazing open world RPG could skip the PS5 entirely.

"I would agree that is hard to imagine" said Howard when asked about the possibility.

However, Elder Scrolls games have often had a Microsoft-lean on them. Morrowind never arrived on PS4, Oblivion was an Xbox 360 exclusive for a full year, and even Skyrim has timed-exclusive DLC.

While the situation is far from clear, Sony fans should probably start preparing themselves to wait longer, at the best, than Xbox players for Elder Scrolls 6.
