NHL 22 Ratings: Best Goalies revealed with no shocker at the top

With NHL 22 ratings reveals continuing to roll out, we're finally learning who the best goalies in the game will be.

There's no shocker at the top of the list, but we've got details on who else is among the elite goalies based on their NHL 22 ratings.

NHL 22 Ratings: Top 10 Best Goalies Revealed

If you assumed Andrei Vasilevskiy would be the highest rated goalie in NHL 22, you're in good company and turned out to be correct.

The latest NHL 22 ratings reveal focused on the top 10 goalies in the game, and Vasilevskiy takes a commanding number one ranking there.

It's no shocker, as Vasilevskiy has protected the net to lead the Tampa Bay Lightning to two consecutive Stanley Cup championships, won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of the 2021 NHL Playoffs, and currently holds the NHL record for most wins in a single postseason (18 in 2020).

CONTORTIONIST: Vasilevskiy was also one of the few players to receive an X Factor

His rating isn't that far ahead of the competition though, with the rest of the top five all within one or two points of Vasilevskiy.

Here are the full NHL 22 ratings for the top 10 goalies in the game:

  • Andrei Vasilevskiy, 92 OVR Rating, Tampa Bay Lightning
  • Connor Hellebuyck, 91 OVR Rating, Winnipeg Jets
  • Carey Price, 90 OVR Rating, Montreal Canadiens
  • Marc-Andre Fleury, 90 OVR Rating, Chicago Blackhawks
  • Tuukka Rask, 90 OVR Rating, Free Agent (Boston Bruins)

  • Philipp Grubauer, 87 OVR Rating, Seattle Kraken
  • Semyon Varlamov, 87 OVR Rating, New York Islanders
  • Robin Lehner, 87 OVR Rating, Vegas Golden Knights

While all eyes will unsurprisingly center on Vasilevskiy's number one ranking, there are a few other big names who made this list.

Seattle Kraken goalie Philipp Grubauer and Free Agent Tuukka Rask make the top 10

Despite the Seattle Kraken heading into their first NHL season ever, they've officially got the eighth highest rated goalie in NHL 22.

In his decade of league play since being drafted in 2010 by the Washington Capitals, Philipp Grubauer has proven himself one of the elite goalies in the league.

He reached the pinnacle in 2018 by capturing the Stanley Cup as part of the Washington Capitals, but found himself replaced by Braden Holtby for most of the playoffs.

The Capitals ended up trading Grubauer to the Colorado Avalanche, where he had a few strong seasons and postseasons performances until his inability to come to terms with the Avalanche eventually saw the Seattle Kraken drop a six-year $35.4 million contract to lock him down.

RELEASE THE KRAKEN: Seattle's team is ready to blast into their first season

Speaking of contracts, that's something fifth ranked free agent Tuukka Rask is currently missing, though all signs point to him staying with the Boston Bruins.

Rask has spent some time recovering from surgery and is ahead of schedule in his recovery while the Boston Bruins have had to consider other options in case Rask isn't ready to hit the ice soon.

While every indication seems to confirm he'll reach an agreement to stay with the Boston Bruins, he's still technically a free agent and is likely to be one in NHL 22 when the game is launched.

That would immediately make Tuukka Rask a must-have free agent acquisition in Franchise Mode, because every team needs an elite goalie.
