The first Nintendo Direct presentation in over a year is right around the corner and we think we could be getting a Breath of the Wild 2 release date announced during it.

In lieu of any physical presentations, Nintendo has opted for hosting Nintendo Direct virtual presentations which are used to provide updates on future projects and present announcements to the world.

It's a good tactic and Nintendo doubled down on Nintendo Direct Mini presentations throughout the last year. However, we haven't had a standard, all-encompassing Nintendo Direct in ages.

Today, that changes. Today, we might finally get a Breath of the Wild 2 release date announcement.

Zelda's 35th Anniversary

Yes. We can't quite believe it either. The Legend of Zelda is 35 years old and many fans think Nintendo have something special up their sleeves this year.

The fact that it is such a significant milestone age for the Zelda series has only fuelled rumours of a Breath of the Wild 2 release date further ahead of the Nintendo Direct.

However, what else is in store? We know we're getting new Super Smash Bros Ultimate news, so could that be Zelda related? Or are Nintendo planning a remastered collection of older games similar to their recently-released Mario collection?

REMASTER? - Could we see everyone's favourite Zelda game make an appearance?

If one anniversary wasn't enough, though... It's the 40th anniversary of Donkey Kong and the 35th anniversary of Metroid in August. Maybe Metroid Prime 3 is looking likely, too.

Breath of The Wild Is A Little Old

On top of this, Breath of the Wild has been out for over three years now and that's the perfect amount of time between games by industry standards.

However, this is Nintendo we're talking about. They don't release sequels very often and a lot of their first-party titles, mainly Mario games, are released on a "one per console generation" basis.

That being said, we have already got a teaser for Breath of the Wild 2 which is unusual for Nintendo and they must understand that the market for a sequel is there.

Zelda fans are as hungry as ever after receiving what many consider is the best Zelda game of all time last. ( If we don't include Hyrule Warriors, which isn't too bad!)

Do you think the Nintendo Direct presentation on the way will give us another look at Breath of the Wild 2 and a release date alongside it?
