Here's how to unlock new Pokemon in Pokemon Unite

Pokemon Unite has finally arrived on the Nintendo Switch, and it has kicked off with a solid roster of characters to unlock.

The action will take place in a research facility on Aeos Island, where players will be able to join 5v5 battles using one of the 20 available Pokemon.

The roster of cute creatures will be divided in 5 different unique roles, Attacker, Defended, Speedster, Supporter, and All Around. Players will be able to initially play with one Pokemon. The other 19 need to be unlocked.

Here's how to unlock more Pokemon in Pokemon Unite.

Choosing your first Unite License

After some minutes on the introduction and tutorials the player is given the first important choice. You have to pick your starter Pokémon among 5 different options.

  • Pikachu (Attacker)
  • Charizard (All Around)
  • Snorlax (Defender)
  • TalonFlame (Speedster)
  • Eldegoss (Supporter)

This is an important decision, because to get a new Unite License (Unlock Pokemon), you need to purchase them with Aeos Coins and Aeos Gems.

In the Switch version, there will be also some events that will give you new License, which is a relief because on the Beta Version, you have to stick with your initial unit for a long time.

Aeos Coins, Gems, Tickets

We can understand Aeos Coins as a F2P currency, similar to those in other MOBAs. You will get these as rewards after matches and after completing events.

Aeos Gems on the other hand is the paid currency. It will be useful to buy fashion items and more cosmetic features.

For Aeos Tickets, you will get them through ranked matches and also other events.

How to get Unite Licenses

A Unite License is the way we unlock units on Pokemon Unite. We can use Aeos Coins and Aeos Gems.

You can purchase them on the Unite Battle Committee Shop. There are three prices for Unite License

  • Starters Pokemon = 6000 Aeos coins/ 345 Aeos Gems
  • Tier B Pokemon = 8000 Aeos Coins / 460 Aeos Gems
  • Tier A Pokemon = 10000 Aeos Coins / 575 Aeos Gems.

Speedsters are the tier A (6), while the Tier B is all the other types that are not starters (9). You also have the chance to purchase the 4 starters you did not pick in the beginning.

Free Unite Licenses

The switch version is giving more chances to get Pokemon than the Beta version.
