Is Age of Empires 4 coming to PS5?

Age of Empires 4 is set for release on Thursday, 28 October as a Microsoft Studios first-party title. Relic Entertainment and World's Edge are sharing development duties for the game. Both are well versed in real-time strategy games offering plenty of veterans talent across each team.

Will the popular strategy franchise make its way to PlayStation consoles will it only be exclusively available on PC?

Is Age of Empires coming to PlayStation?

At the time of writing, Age of Empires will not be coming to PlayStation consoles. In fact, it's currently not due to arrive on any consoles meaning PC will be the only platform you can play the game on. We don't expect this to change in the final few weeks before the launch.

Age of Empires 4 will be available on Xbox Game Pass for PC and Steam. It will also be part of the new Xbox Cloud Gaming initiative allowing it to be played via an internet connection without the need to download the game, saving valuable hard drive space.

Will It Ever Come to Consoles?

It's highly unlikely that Age of Empires will receive a console port. There has never been a huge audience crying out for these games on console, especially when they would have to sacrifice the integrity of the experience.

While RTS games can work on consoles, they are typically not as free-flowing as their PC counterparts due to struggles with controls and overall performance which is heavily reliant on high RAM and CPU capacity.

That's not to say that the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 couldn't run the game without any issues, but the process to produce a console friendly version is not worth the resources that it would require to make it happen.
