Siege Y6S3 Patch Notes: Everything you need to know about the next update

Rainbow Six Siege is heading into the latter half of Year 6 with another strong update in Operation Crystal Guard. There's going to be a new Operator - Osa, an Attacker -, a few map changes, and some alterations to key gameplay mechanics. Here's everything you need to know about what's on the way ahead of the update.

RELEASE DATE - When does Crystal Guard drop?

Operation Crystal Guard and Y6S3 actually drop pretty soon! You might even find, dependent on your platform, that Server Maintenance has already started!

Ubisoft has opted to release Siege's next title update on a staggered schedule, with PlayStation platforms getting the update a little later than everyone else. Here's what you need to know about when Server Maintenance starts:

  • PC (Ubisoft Connect, Steam, Stadia, Luna)
    • Maintenance Time: 06:00 PST / 09:00 EST / 14:00 BST
  • Xbox (One, Series X, Series S)
    • Maintenance Time: 07:00 PST / 10:00 EST / 15:00 BST
  • PlayStation (4, 5)
    • Maintenance Time: 08:00 PST / 11:00 EST / 16:00 BST

Server Maintenance is due to last an hour and Operation Crystal Guard and the new content should be available an hour later than the time specified above.

Flash Detection Rework

  • Ying's Candela, Blitz's G52-Tactical Shield, and the Stun Grenade use a new flash detection system that calculates flash duration. It takes the environment and angle of the explosion into account as well as players' distance and orientation.
  • If an Operator is affected, they will always be flashed at 100%, but the duration will change each time, increasing the reliability of the flash effect.
    • Decreased the duration of the flash effect based on the player's orientation.
    • Affects Stun grenades, Ying's Candela and Blitz's G52-Tactical Shield.

Bank Map Changes

  • EXT Boulevard vehicles have been moved to new locations to prevent runout eliminations;
  • Some EXT Low Roof and EXT High Roof skylights have been blocked to prevent unfair firefights;
  • Line of sight into EXT Back Alley has been adjusted to prevent spawn peaks;
  • EXT Terrace has been updated to prevent spawn peaks;
  • Filing cabinets between 1F ATMs and 1F Lobby have been removed to prevent easy shots into the interior balcony;
  • All metal bars have been removed from B Vault to increase the ease of shooting;
  • A new alleyway named EXT Side Alley connects EXT Boulevard and EXT Back Alley;
  • Hatch in 1F Lobby now leads to B Vault;
  • Railing in 2F Skylight Stairwell is now destructible;

MORE THAN MINOR CHANGES - Finally, those Metal Bars in Vault are gone!
  • Coastline Map Changes
    • The line of sight into the building from EXT Rooftop has been partially blocked to prevent unfair firefights;
    • Some windows in 1F Courtyard are now blocked, and all open windows can be barricaded;
    • A new 1F Reception bomb site replaces the 1F Service Entrance bomb site;
    • 1F Service Entrance is now located between the 1F Reception bomb site and the exterior door, preventing Defenders from planting the defuser directly at the exterior door;
    • The exterior wall in 2F VIP Lounge is now breakable and players can rappel up from EXT DJ Booth;

  • Clubhouse Map Changes
    • 1F Stock Room bomb site has been removed and there are now two bomb sites in 1F Bar, one behind the bar and one beside the stage;
    • A doorway has been added between the bar and stage in 1F Bar;
  • New props have been added to the bar area in 1F Bar;
  • A path now connects EXT Kennels and EXT Graffiti Area;

  • Fuse Operator Changes
    • Cluster Charges
      • Can be deployed on reinforced surfaces and Mira's Black Mirror
      • Charges take longer (3s) to pass through reinforcements
      • Reduced charge bounce after triggering
      • The extension tube is now vulnerable to damage
      • Added gadget light to signify a phase of activation
      • Added VFX for Cluster Charge triggering on soft walls and reinforced surfaces

  • FIXED – Windows cursor remains stuck on screen, blocking camera movement.
  • FIXED – Reinforcing a partially damaged hatch does not destroy the original wooden surface.

    • FIXED – Ace's S.E.L.M.A. Aqua Breacher destroys Osa's Talon-8 Shield when thrown.

  • MIRA
    • FIXED – Mira loses points when another player breaks a Black Mirror that has a friendly gadget deployed on it.

  • MUTE
    • FIXED – Mute's Signal Disruptor doesn't get destroyed when an opponent shoots the antennas.
  • NØKK
    • FIXED – HEL Presence Reduction grants Nøkk immunity to slow effect produced by Melusi's Banshee Sonic Defense.
  • OSA
    • FIXED – Osa's weapon collides with Talon-8 Shield if she picks it up while rappelling.
    • FIXED – Handles on Osa's Talon-8 Shield are incorrectly positioned when she equips/unequips the device while rappelling.
    • FIXED – Osa's hitbox is too small when she rappels and picks up the Talon-8 Shield.
    • FIXED – Various Osa animation issues.
    • FIXED – Osa does not have a Nighthaven model phone.
