Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

With so many different types to choose from, you probably have a few queries about juicers, but we're here to clear up some of the most common questions.

What's the difference between a juicer and a blender?

A juicer and a blender are both kitchen appliances used to make drinks, but they work differently and produce different results.

A juicer is designed to extract the juice from fruits and vegetables, leaving behind the pulp and fibre. It does this by grinding the produce and then pressing it through a fine mesh or filter to separate the juice from the solid pulp. The result is a smooth, thin juice that contains only the liquid nutrients and sugars from the fruits and vegetables.

On the other hand, a blender mixes together all parts of the produce, including the pulp and fibre, to create a thicker, more substantial drink. The blender's blades break down the produce into a smoothie-like consistency, which retains all the fiber and other nutrients from the fruits and vegetables.

What type of juicers are there?

There are four main types of juicers that differ in the way they process the ingredients.

A centrifugal juicer, or fast juicer, is one of the most popular variations that quickly shred the fruit and vegetables you insert into it.

You also get masticating juicers which are sometimes known as slow juicers as they use a much more passive auger to crush your ingredients through.

There are also cold press juicers that start by grounding your ingredients to a pulp, and then applying pressure to force as much of the nutrients as possible into your drink.

The final type is a twin-gear juicer which is similar to a masticating juicer but comes with two augers that pull and chew up your fruit and vegetables.

Are juicers easy to clean?

Typically speaking, twin-gear juicers are the hardest to clean due to the increased number of moving parts.

However, a lot of machines these days feature efficient cleaning mechanisms to help speed up the whole process.

Also, it's worth checking if some of the parts are dishwasher safe as this may save you loads of time and should leave your machine looking spotless.
