Resident Evil 4 Remake to focus on horror

Ever since the Resident Evil remakes started back in 2002, there has been a slow and steady demand for more games to be given a second chance at life. Ultimately, Capcom have gone back to remake both Resident Evil 2 & 3 with huge success.

With each remake, there are core parts of the original games mixed with new and updated mechanics, graphics and overall tone. As fans start to look towards Resident Evil 4, it appears that Capcom is already working on the game and have clear plans for how the end product will play.

Resident Evil 4 Remake will be scarier than the original

In looking at the inspiration for Resident Evil 4 and the changes that can be made in the remake process, Capcom have made their intentions clear. In a report from Fanbyte, their sources state that the Resident Evil 4 Remake will head in a scarier and more grounded direction.

The newer Resident Evil titles are also inspiring the new direction of the remakes

The motive behind this is based around previously unseen Resident Evil 4 demos, all of which has a much darker tone.

This would certainly be in keeping with both the Resident Evil 2 & 3 remakes which certainly brought both games up to date with modern themes and features. The success of Resident Evil 7 appeared to be the catalyst for the recent remakes after it changed the tone of the franchise dramatically.

2021 Leaks still relevant?

Back in November 2021, it was believed that artwork for Albert Wesker in Resident Evil 4's remake has leaked thanks to his long time voice actor DC Douglas. The artwork was leaked by the actor himself via direct messages during a live stream.

Eurogamer followed the story closely but they were met with denials from all parties that the project existed and that Douglas was attached to it.
