Canada has not yet officially qualified for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament.

Canada is currently sitting top of their qualifying table, occupying an automatic qualifying spot.

The top three spots in the group all qualify directly for the World Cup, while fourth-place advances to an intercontinental playoff against the Oceania winner.

The next round of World Cup qualifiers takes place from Thursday, 24 March to Tuesday, 29 March.

Scotland, Wales and Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal must also go through the play-offs.

Qualified teams

As hosts, Qatar received automatic qualification to the tournament and as stated previously the opening game will feature the host nation.

Four-time World Cup winners Germany were the first team to guarantee a spot through the qualification process in Europe.

Brazil, the most successful national team in World Cup history with five trophies, secured swift qualification as one of the top four teams in South America's groups.

England already secured their place back in November by topping their qualifying group.
