When are the 2022/23 EFL Championship fixtures released?


The 2022/23 EFL Championship season is just around the corner, as the battle for Premier League promotion gets underway.

Burnley, Norwich and Watford will be looking to bounce back to the big time at the first time of asking, whilst Sunderland are amongst those who will be hoping to cause an upset after their promotion from League One.

The wait is over, the 2022/23 EFL Championship fixtures have been released.

The pick of the opening round fixtures comes at Vicarage Road, as two of the pre-season title favourites go head to head when Watford host Sheffield United.

The full list of opening day Championship fixtures are as follows:

  • Cardiff City vs Norwich City
  • Rotherham vs Swansea City

2022/23 EFL Championship Release Date

The EFL Championship fixture list for the 2022/23 season will be released on Thursday, June 23rd.

The initial fixture list is expected to be announced at around 8am GMT, with fixtures subject to change due to television coverage and cup involvement.

2022/23 EFL Championship Key Dates

The 2022/23 EFL Championship campaign will be a little more complex than usual, as the competition will be paused over the winter months due to the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

The EFL Championship season will begin on July 30th, with the competition running as normal until November 12th, when the season will be halted for the beginning of the FIFA World Cup.

The Championship will resume on December 10th, with the regular season then running through until completion on May 6th.

At this point, attention will turn toward the EFL Championship Play-Offs, which will come to a conclusion on Monday, May 29th.
