Saturday saw the return of the F1 Sprint concept for the second time in the 2022 Formula 1 season and the first time since Imola as Max Verstappen looked to extend his championship lead.

Max Verstappen was the fastest qualifier on Friday afternoon and claimed pole position for the Austrian Grand Prix Sprint Race with championship rival Charles Leclerc accompanying him on the front row.

Sergio Perez was pushed back to P13 after the stewards adjudged him to have breached track limits in Q2, promoting Esteban Ocon and both Haas drivers into even more promising positions.
