Newcastle United Transfer News and Rumours

Newcastle United are braced for one of the busiest summers of any Premier League club. Eddie Howe will be hoping to make serious additions to a transitioning squad following the club's Saudi takeover.

Work began on Tyneside back in January with Kieran Trippier and Bruno Guimarāes headlining the new additions, and more head-turning deals are expected this summer.

Here are all the key transfer rumours and confirmed deals for Newcastle United.

LATEST NEWS - Magpies hone in on Ekitike

Newcastle's long-founded interest in Reims striker Hugo Ekitike could finally be resolved later this week. The Magpies were looking to bring the 19-year-old striker in during the January transfer window, but the young striker couldn't come to an agreement to make the switch.

Fabrizio Romano is now reporting that there have been positive developments between the two parties with the deal possibly set to be wrapped up this week. Ekitike scored ten goals from 24 appearances in Ligue 1 last season and will be one to watch in the future should transfer talks progress.

Rumoured Arrivals

Sven Botman

The Sven Botman transfer saga continues to drag on Lille still haggling over a price for the 22-year-old centre-back. The Dutch centre-back has been one of the most impressive defenders in Europe over the past two seasons with Newcastle battling Italian Scudetto winners AC Milan for his signature.

Reports are suggesting that Newcastle are running out of patience with Lille, who have been stalling their efforts to sign Botman.

Triple Serie A swoop

Italian news outlet CalcioMercato is reporting that Newcastle will be dipping their toes in the Serie A market this season. Eddie Howe is reportedly keen to bring Juventus centre-back Merih Demiral, Inter right-back Denzel Dumfries and Turkish playmaker Hakan Çalhanoglu this summer.

The deal for the trio is expected to cost in the region of £67million, although the club's interest in Demiral will likely be closely tied to their pursuit of Lille centre-back Sven Botman.

Dean Henderson

Eddie Howe is keen on bringing in an upgrade on goalkeeper Martin Dubravka this summer with Manchester United second-choice Dean Henderson his prime target. The 25-year-old 'keeper has struggled to break into the United starting XI over the past couple of seasons at Old Trafford and St. James's Park could be his new home.

Newcastle are keen on a permanent deal, but reports suggest that Henderson would prefer a loan move as he still believes he can challenge David De Gea for the No.1 jersey in Manchester.

Confirmed Departures

Isaac Hayden (Norwich) - Loan

Rumoured Departures

Elliot Anderson

19-year-old midfielder Elliot Anderson will depart the club on loan this summer with a step-up to the Championship expected. The exciting academy graduate starred for Bristol Rovers last season, scoring eight goals in 21 appearances for the now-League One side.

West Brom have made a formal approach for the teenager, but they will have to fend off interest from Championship rivals Reading and Stoke, as well as League One outfit Sheffield Wednesday.

Dwight Gayle

One man who has been heavily linked to a departure this summer has been Dwight Gayle. The 32-year-old striker has been a bit-part player at best over the past three seasons and will be eyeing more regular football ahead of the 2022/23 season.

West Brom are interested in the experienced striker with manager Steve Bruce keen to reunite with his former frontman. The Baggies will have to fight off interest from pre-season automatic promotion hopefuls Sheffield United, who are looking to bolster their goal-shy attacking lineup.
