With the board's quest for a new head coach already underway, RealSport101's Harry Smith is on hand to give you the latest odds to replace Michael Appleton as Blackpool manager.

Appleton's Blackpool departure: As it happened

While an FA Cup run looked to be on the cards following the win against Nottingham Forest, Blackpool's form in the league under Michael Appleton is a reason for major concern.

The Tangerines were promoted back to the Championship two years ago following an incredible campaign under Neil Critchley that saw them clinch promotion with an impressive play-off final win at Wembley.

Critchley shocked fans across the EFL in the summer when he walked out on Blackpool to become Steven Gerrard's assistant at Aston Villa.

Appleton was the man selected to replace Critchley at Blackpool, but he never quite struck up a rapport with the fanbase.

A relegation six-pointer against Huddersfield beckons this weekend, but the Tangerines will be managerless for that game after Appleton was fired as Blackpool manager on Wednesday afternoon.

He leaves the club in 23rd place, winless in ten Championship matches ahead of the visit of Huddersfield.
