Wednesday morning brought the news that Thomas Tuchel has been sacked as Chelsea manager following a 1-0 away defeat against Dynamo Zagreb in the Champions League.

The German was a popular figure at Stamford Bridge after delivering the club's second-ever Champions League trophy during his first season, beating Premier League rivals Manchester City 1-0 in Porto in the final.

Last season was more complicated for Chelsea and Tuchel as a poor second half of the season saw the Blues slip into the clutches of improving Spurs and Arsenal sides.

However, it was a poor start to the 2022/23 season that saw new owner Todd Boehly pull the trigger with Tuchel's reign coming to an end on Wednesday morning, much to the surprise of the club's fanbase.

Who will replace Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea?

The likely contender for the vacant managerial position at Chelsea could be Mauricio Pochettino, who was actually the man to replace Tuchel at PSG after he departed for West London.

The Argentine never found his footing in Paris and has been waiting for the right opportunity since, and a return to English football is thought to be appealing for the former Spurs boss.

Alternatively, Brighton's Graham Potter has emerged as a leading contender having enjoyed an exceptional start to the 2022/23 Premier League season.
