Schultz's St. Pauli departure: As it happened

Speaking on the matter on Tuesday morning, St. Pauli president Oke Göttlich and sporting director Andreas Bornemann told the club website:

"Timo is a deserving and genuine St. Paulian. The decision was correspondingly difficult. We have analyzed and discussed the past few months intensively and unfortunately feel compelled to act now."

"We always have to keep an eye on the overall well-being of FC St. Pauli - and our sporting record in the 2022 calendar year is that of a relegation team.

"This must change immediately and sustainably so that we can take all measures to hold the class. The corona pandemic and the exploding energy costs are already presenting the club with massive problems".
