When is The Open Championship 2022?


The fourth and final golf major of the year will take place next month, as the best players in the world head to the Home of Golf for The Open Championship.

The famous St Andrews Links course will play host to the eagerly awaited 150th Open Championship, as those in the field look to get their hands on the final major honour of 2022.

But when will the first ball be hit in Fife? Let's take a look.

When is The Open Championship?

The action begins at St Andrews on the week commencing July 11th, 2022.

There will be the usual pre-tournament formalities from Monday (July 11th) through to Wednesday (July 13th), with the tournament itself getting underway on Thursday, July 14th.

Gates will open at 6am BST on Thursday morning, with the first tee times to be announced in due course. The tournament will finish on Sunday, July 17th.

American Colin Morikawa will enter the tournament as the reigning champion, after posting a score of 15 under to claim victory at Royal St George's Golf Course in 2021.

Where to Watch The Open Championship 2022

The 2022 Open Championship will be shown live in the United States and the United Kingdom, with NBC and the Golf Challenge sharing coverage in the States.
