Last season's Premier League and Champions League runners-up saw their second-string side hammered 4-0 by rivals Manchester United in their first pre-season friendly of the summer and Jürgen Klopp will be searching for a response when his side turns out on Friday afternoon.
Their opponents, Crystal Palace, kicked their pre-season campaign off with a 1-1 draw against League One Accrington Stanley before playing out a goal-laden 5-4 win against London rivals Millwall.
