Who is in France's World Cup group 2022?

The draw for the 2022 FIFA World Cup has taken place, with France learning their fate in their quest to defend their World Cup crown.

Didier Dechamps' men are amongst the hot favourites for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, as they aim to become only the third side in the history of the competition to win back-to-back competitions.

They are the top-seeded nation in Group D, but who will they come up against?

Who is in France's World Cup group?

France's Euro 2020 campaign came to a premature end when they were defeated on penalties by Switzerland, and they will be looking to bounce back on the international front with a strong showing in Group D.

They will be joined by Denmark for a second consecutive World Cup, the two sides drew 0-0 when they met in the 2018 group stages.

They will also meet Tunisia for the first time since 2010, and for the first time on a competitive front, having faced off in five international friendlies. France have won two, drawn two and lost one of their five meetings to date.

The final spot in Group D is still to be decided, with the UAE, Australia and Peru still vying to book their place at the World Cup in Qatar.

When will France play their group stage fixtures?

The 2022 FIFA World Cup kicks off on November 21st, but France won't be in action until the following evening, as they take on UAE, Australia or Peru.

  • 22nd November - France vs UAE, Australia or Peru
  • 26th November - France vs Denmark
  • 30th November - France vs Tunisia

The 2022 World Cup is taking place in Qatar in the winter months rather than the usual summer ones, due to the heat.

The tournament kicks off on Monday, 21 November at the Al Bayt stadium in Al Khor with a match that will feature the host country, Qatar.

The final will be played at the Lusail Stadium in Doha a week before Christmas on Sunday, 18 December.’
