Day eight of action at the Wimbledon Championships is upon us, with quarter-final action the centre of focus today.

The pick of the matches on Tuesday will take place on Centre Court, with world No.1 Novak Djokovic coming up against Italian youngster Jannik Sinner.

Sinner has seen off the likes of Stan Wawrinka and Carlos Alcaraz on the way to an unexpected quarter-final appearance and should provide a stern test for Djokovic as he continues his bid for a seventh Wimbledon crown.

Here is everything that you need to know about Jannik Sinner ahead of today's match.

Who is Jannik Sinner?

Ranked 13th in the world, Jannik Sinner is one of the best young talents on the globe, but few would've predicted that the Italian would still be in contention for the title this far down the line.

In fact, Sinner was without a win at the Championships ahead of his first-round clash with Stan Wawrinka. However, he has quickly found his feet on the famous grass courts, registering convincing wins over Wawrinka, Mikael Ymer, John Isner and Carlos Alcaraz en route to the quarter-finals.

Despite his high ranking, Sinner is without a title on the ATP Tour in 2022, but he did claim victory on four occasions in 2021. He has enjoyed the bulk of his success on the hard courts.

Standing at 6'2", Sinner has a big first serve and plays with a two-handed backhand. His speed is a key element to his game and given his ability to cover the court, you can expect to see a lot of long points when he and Novak take to Centre Court later today.
