Will Kylian Mbappe leave PSG in January?

It's been a whirlwind twelve months in the life of Kylian Mbappe.

The French forward was largely expected to join Real Madrid in the summer, a club that Mbappe claims to have supported as a child, before making a U-turn and signing a new, bumper deal with Paris Saint Germain.

But despite being less than six months into his new deal, there are talks of discontent within the Mbappe camp, with the 23-year-old believed to be keen on a move away from the French capital as soon as possible.

So will we see Kylian Mbappe leave PSG in January? Here is what we know so far.

Mbappe wants out

Whether rightly or wrongly, it appears as though Kylian Mbappe has decided that enough is enough, and he wants a move away from Paris Saint Germain.

As reported by the likes of Fabrizio Romano and Julien Laurens, Mbappe feels betrayed by the club and has had enough. He wants to leave the club in January.

There has been no official word from the Mbappe camp with regard to this news, nor is there any suggestion as to why these feelings have surfaced. But one thing is for sure, it doesn't sound promising for PSG.

Contractual dilemma

The issue for the Mbappe camp is that their client signed a new three-year contract with Paris Saint Germain in the summer, and therefore, they hold all the cards when it comes to negotiating an exit.

It was reported that Mbappe received a huge €100m signing bonus alongside a healthy €50m salary. In addition to this, the French forward has been afforded more power in the decision-making that takes place off the field.

Paris Saint Germain is still searching for an elusive first UEFA Champions League title, and with a star-studded trio of Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi leading the line, it seems highly unlikely that they would sanction any sale halfway through a campaign.

Will Kylian Mbappe leave PSG in January?

Given the complications surrounding the contract - alongside PSG's desire to claim the UEFA Champions League title - it looks highly unlikely that Kylian Mbappe will leave the club in January.

Even if PSG were to sanction a sale, there are only a handful of clubs who could afford to pay what would almost certainly prove to be a world-record transfer fee.

It seems inevitable that Mbappe's time at Paris Saint Germain is limited, but as of now, a January exit looks unlikely.
