AEW Fight Forever news continues to trickle out, and the arrival of the title on the PlayStation Network Database could've tipped off the release date.

We've got new details about a different placeholder release date for AEW Fight Forever which could land it just before WWE 2K23 is expected.

AEW Fight Forever given new placeholder release date

At the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase, we got confirmation of the already leaked AEW Fight Forever trailer.

However, the showcase stopped short of confirming any other news aside from the game being playable in a preview form at Gamescon.

Shortly after the event, Twitter account PlayStation Game Size spotted several games newly arriving in the PlayStation Network Database.

Among those was AEW Fight Forever, and it's suddenly got a new placeholder release date of February 2023.

While earlier reports indicated that AEW Fight Forever had been targeting a potential September 2022 launch and comments from Kenny Omega expressed optimism about a launch by the end of the year, that may be changing.

With WWE 2K23 seeing success despite delays because they had time to ensure gameplay quality could hold up, AEW Fight Forever is likely taking the same course of action.

AEW Fight Forever could arrive just before WWE 2K23

If the February 2023 release date rings true, it could put AEW Fight Forever out just weeks before WWE 2K23 is expected to arrive.

We learned recently that WWE 2K23 is confirmed by Take-Two Interactive to be on their schedule for a release before March 31, 2023.

While the news did leave the possibility of an earlier launch open, the success of delivering the game in the buildup to WrestleMania is likely too good to go without.

In the same vein, AEW Fight Forever keeping to a February 2023 launch would also put the game out just before AEW Revolution (their first PPV of the year), which is expected in early March 2023.

At this point, a February launch for AEW Fight Forever and March launch for WWE 2K23 are looking very likely.

There's plenty of time for things to change, and the biggest factor in that possible change would be the development process on both titles.

Developers on both side have shown a willingness to wait if it helps ensure game quality on arrival, and potential competition between the two titles could only reinforce that goal.
