Katsuyori Shibata has been named as head coach of the New Japan Pro Wrestling dojo in Los Angeles which is due to open on the 19th of March.

Shibata's wrestling career was ended when he suffered a subdural hematoma following a stiff headbutt during his IWGP Heavyweight Championship match against Kazuchika Okada at Sakura Genesis in April of last year.

The former IWGP tag team and NEVER Openweight champion made an emotional return to NJPW during the finals of the 2017 G1 Climax in August of 2017 and is now committed towards nurturing professional wrestlers of the future.
