Championship matches

Universal Championship: Brock Lesnar (c) vs Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe earned the opportunity to challenge Brock Lesnar by winning the Fatal 5-Way Match at Extreme Rules. It will be the first championship opportunity for Joe since coming up to the main roster and the first time we’ve ever seen Brock Lesnar and Samoa Joe compete against each other. This will be Brock Lesnar’s first defense of the Universal Championship after winning it from Goldberg at WrestleMania 33.

Intercontinental Championship: The Miz (c) vs Dean Ambrose

While the feud between Miz and Ambrose feels as if it has been going on for quite a long time, this will be only the second time they have squared off on pay-per-view in the last year. Their last clash was at Extreme Rules where Miz captured the championship from Ambrose. This will also be the first time we will see Ambrose contend with having not only Maryse but also The Miztourage of Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel at ringside running interference.

Raw Tag Team Championship 30-Minute Iron Man Match: Cesaro & Sheamus (c) vs The Hardy Boyz

After a draw during a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match a few weeks ago on Raw, this week General Manager Kurt Angle announced that this would be a 30-Minute Iron Man Match. This will only be the second tag team Iron Man Match in WWE history. The first was only fifteen minutes long, was dubbed a “Fifteen Minutes of Fame Match”, and featured John Morrison & The Miz defending their titles against Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore on an episode of ECW on SyFy in 2008. This will be the fourth straight championship match on a pay-per-view for The Hardy Boyz since returning at WrestleMania 33.

Raw Women’s Championship Match: Alexa Bliss (c) vs Sasha Banks

Sasha Banks earned this shot at the Raw Women’s Championship by winning a gauntlet match to determine the number one contender on an episode of Raw. This will be the first championship opportunity for Sasha Banks since failing to capture the title in a Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match at WrestleMania 33. It will be the first time Alexa Bliss has defended the championship against Sasha Banks and the first time the two have squared off on a pay-per-view.

Cruiserweight Championship Match: Neville (c) vs Akira Tozawa

After Titus O’Neil began to recruit Akira Tozawa to be a part of the Titus Brand, he was able to negotiate this championship opportunity for Tozawa. It will be the first championship opportunity for Akira Tozawa since arriving in WWE and the first pay-per-view singles match for him. The match will take place on the Kickoff Show and is currently the only advertised match for the Kickoff Show. This will be the sixth straight pay-per-view in which Neville has competed in the Cruiserweight Championship Match. He won the title back at the Royal Rumble in San Antonio, Texas, while this event will take place only a few hours away in Dallas, Texas.

Grudge matches

Ambulance Match: Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman

The culmination of the ongoing rivalry between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman will come this Sunday in an Ambulance Match. The issues between these two go as far back as the Royal Rumble when Braun Strowman cost Roman Reigns his chance at the Universal Championship against Kevin Owens. Their clash was put on hold when Strowman was sidelined with an elbow injury, but he has since returned and they appear ready to finish things. This will be the first Ambulance Match since Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt squared off in one on an episode of Raw in January of 2015. This will be the third clash at a pay-per-view for Reigns and Strowman. Reigns picked up a win over Strowman at Fastlane and Strowman picked up a win of his own at Payback.

Seth Rollins vs Bray Wyatt

After several weeks of antagonizing one another, Seth Rollins and Bray Wyatt will attempt to settle their differences at Great Balls of Fire. The two have competed in the past, but were separated over most of the last year due to the brand split. Wyatt has put a particular focus on Rollins since they both came up short in the main event at Extreme Rules.

Enzo Amore vs Big Cass

This longtime tag team shockingly split a few weeks ago when Big Cass betrayed his former friend and ended their partnership. This will be the first singles pay-per-view match for both Enzo Amore and Big Cass. It will also be the first time we have ever seen these two square off one on one.
