It was arguably the biggest surprise of E3 2021, other than the Metroid Dread news. During the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, we were treated to a trailer showing that Pirates of the Caribbean and Sea of Thieves were engaging in a crossover titled A Pirate's Life.

LATEST - Ahoy, Mateys! The Update Is Out!

The server downtime is over and Sea of Thieves Season 3 has started! That means A Pirate's Life has also just been added to the game. It's time to take on Davy Jones and the Flying Dutchman yourself (with the help of Captain Jack Sparrow) and see what mischief he's been up to in the depths of the Seven Seas.

All things considered... Davy Jones doesn't stand a chance, does he?

A Pirate's Life Release Date

One of the best parts of the entire reveal for A Pirate's Life was the release date. Given how epic everything was in the trailer, we were treated to an incredibly short release date of 22 June 2021.

We were also treated to another showing of A Pirate's Life during the Xbox Games Showcase: Extended. During this event, we got a look at some gameplay from the expansion to give us a better idea of what to expect.

Is A Pirate's Life On Game Pass?

Yes, A Pirate's Life is available for any Xbox Game Pass subscribers upon release. Much like all previous updated for Sea of Thieves, as an exclusive title, all content is made available for free to Game Pass subscribers.

So just in case you needed any more convincing to join Game Pass, not that you should, this will definitely help make your decision.

Is A Pirate's Life Single Player?

Loading...

Yes and no, unfortunately there's not a simple answer to this question. While A Pirate's Life is story content that can be played solo, you will still need to be connected to the internet at all times to play.

There was some speculation when A Pirate's Life was revealed that this would be offline story content but this is not the case.

Rare are committed to their online shared world structure as it has served them well to this point. This isn't to say that instances can't be used should the game need to ensure other players can't disrupt your experience.
