It's finally here! The next big Sea of Thieves update is out now! This season's update, introducing A Pirate's Life, offers the crossover collaboration we have all been waiting for. Sea of Thieves x Pirates of the Caribbean was always going to be good and we can't wait to get stuck in.

A Pirate's Life Release Date
As we see in the official trailer for Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's Life, which was revealed at E3 2021, it will launch on 22 June 2021. We must admit, when watching the trailer we were certain it wouldn't be seen until next year!
The team at Rare have done incredibly well to capture the true feel of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and blend it nicely with their own culture.
Does Johnny Depp Play Jack Sparrow?
Unfortunately no, Johnny Depp is not providing the voice for Jack Sparrow here. While it is very convincing, the voice is likely provided by Jared Butler. Butler has provided the voice for Jack Sparrow in multiple other video game projects including Disney Infinity and Kingdom Hearts.

Captain Jack Sparrow isn't the only character we have confirmed for the Sea of Thieves crossover event. In the announcement trailer we also saw Davy Jones resurrected as the likely antagonist of the adventure.
We also see a familiar face in Gibbs, who many will remember from the films as Captain Jack's close friend and part of his crew.
Beyond this we also see another character who narrates the trailer. While it isn't confirmed, this sounds very much like the Tia Dalma/Calypso character who was prominent in Dead Man's Chest and At World's End.
click to enlargeIt may not be a character per se, but that last big reveal of the trailer was an appearance from The Flying Dutchman. This ghostly vessel gloriously emerged from the ocean housing a ghastly crew of lost souls and Davy Jones himself.
