Xbox Live is currently down for tens of thousands of players who report being unable to sign in due to server problems.

Xbox Live Servers Down: Server Status & Latest Updates
Xbox Live is once again experiencing a major outage, and that's taking many players offline entirely. With this coming just a week after NBA 2K22 launch, and shortly after Madden 22 launch, it's a bad time for sports fans.
Microsoft has already commented on the issue, letting players know that the team is on the case, and we'll hopefully see Xbox Live servers up and running soon enough.
In the meantime, however, many players won't be able to sign in to Xbox Live or access online features/multiplayer in games.
Check the current status of Xbox Live servers here. where as of this writing Microsoft has marked a Major Outage and has been working on this issue since 2:21pm EST.
