Game Pass update sees huge quality of life changes

Microsoft has released their next update for the Xbox consoles, both the One and Series X|S, bringing new app and Game Pass features, as well as some overall quality of life improvements.

Here is everything you need to know.

New Xbox Update

In a blog post, Microsoft laid out what has been added in the new Xbox update.

Achievements

Achievements have come back to the Xbox App for both iOS and Android.

For some reason, these were removed in a previous update but are now being added back in

"Last month, we started rolling out and testing achievement experiences in the Xbox app, and starting today, select gamers can check out monthly leaderboards to see how you rank against your friends. We’ll also be adding the ability to view achievements on game detail pages to help track your progress. Everyone will see these updates in the app by the end of the month, and we’ll continue refining the experience over time. Stay tuned for more updates to the Xbox mobile app in the near future."

Xbox Game Pass is full of fantastic multiplayer experiences, such as Minecraft, Halo: Masterchief Collection, and Sea of Thieves.

Now with the new update players will be able to see what their friends are playing on Game Pass and either join the session or install the game if it isn't currently installed on their device.

There is an extensive library of games on Game Pass, somewhere in the region of 400.

So discovering the next title you want to play can be a bit overwhelming.

More recommendations have now been added including “Because you played,” or find a game to play with friends in “Multiplayer.”

There will also be many more genre-specific recommendations too including first-person shooters, science fiction, horror, sandbox, mystery, anime, fantasy, cute, and more.

Suspend game and speed up your downloads

Download your games as quickly as possible with the new suspend game feature in My games & apps. Today, the queue warns you when your active game is slowing download speeds. Now you’ll have the option to suspend your active game in order to free up bandwidth and get the most efficient download speeds. Then, with Quick Resume, you can jump right back into your game whenever you want to start playing again.
