One of the greatest footballers of all time, and one of the most overpowered players in the entirety of FIFA 23, Brazilian legend Ronaldo is available to unlock for free in Ultimate Team.

EA has made R9's 96-rated Prime Icon version available to unlock for all FUT 23 players during the Team of the Season (TOTS) promo.

It is important to note that the free Ronaldo on offer will be given out on a 24-game loan basis. However, this should not put you off unlocking the striker.

A 24-match loan means you will be able to play an entire FUT Champions Weekend League with Prime R9 up top, taking your squad to the next level.

How to get Prime R9 for FREE

Getting your hands on a free Prime Ronaldo is remarkably easy.

You won't actually be unlocking Prime Ronaldo, though. You will unlock a Player Pick consisting of three different Icons on a 24-game loan basis.

One of which is R9, and the others are the 92-rated Prime Iker Casillas and the 94-rated Prime Paolo Maldini.

Of course, Ronaldo is by far the standout option here, but if your squad is in desperate need elsewhere then you have options available.

All you need to do in order to claim the Icon Player Pick is follow these simple steps:

  • Head to the FIFA 23 news page here.
  • Type in your email address, birth date and country.
  • Make sure the email address you provide is linked to your FIFA 23 Ultimate Team account.
  • Click Sign Up.

Then, all you need to do is sit tight and wait for your Player Pick to arrive.

EA has stipulated that the Loan Player Pick will be released into FUT 23 on Friday, 12 May.

The offer is available for FIFA 23 users on PlayStation5, PlayStation4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC via EA app, Epic and Steam.

The Brazilian legend possesses 98 Finishing, 97 Dribbling, 96 Volleys, 96 Ball Control, 95 Reactions and 95 Positioning.

On top of all that, Ronaldo crucially has five-star skill moves and a five-star weak foot, making him the ultimate number nine in FIFA 23.

TOTS Release Schedule

The Team of the Season campaign pretty much does what it says on the tin.

FIFA 23's TOTS promotional event will celebrate the best players from around the world during the 2022/23 domestic league seasons, not taking into account cup competitions.

The TOTS campaign usually lasts for around seven weeks, with EA staggering the release of boosted items from all the different major leagues.
